Urethral Stricture


  • Uttarbasti is an Ayurvedic procedure in which specific oil based medicine or decoction is administered in the urethra, through urethral meatus, with a syringe (urethral catheterization is not required).
  • Uttarbasti is a non invasive procedure with minimal or no pain, so anesthesia is not required.
  • Procedure is carried out by an expert, under all aseptic precautions and sterilized medicine is used, so there are no chances of introducing any kind of infection into the urethra.
  • Being day care treatment no hospitalization is required and patient can resume work same day as bed rest is not required.
  • Most of the patients require ten sittings which are usually done on alternate days.
  • Total duration of treatment is approximately 20 days.

Precautions to be taken during the treatment of Uttarbasti

  • Drink lot of water to keep urine white - just like water
  • Urge of urine should neither be ignored nor forced
  • Avoid sexual activities including masturbation
  • Avoid unnecessary catheterization or instrumentation in the urethra
